Whats my style?

When I opened the digital kit Stylish Attitudes by FineCrafted Designs, this is the page I wanted to make:

Being on a Creative Team is wonderfully challenging and at times a bit limiting as the designer of the kit may have a different idea of the kit's scope, style and uses. Huh?  Scope, style and uses? Well, yes. All you have to do is look through the vast "styles" of various digital designers and the online stores that sell their product to get my point. I wouldn't shop at Deviant Scrap if all I create are minimalist pages or traditional pages. Nope, Deviant Scrap is the place to go for fantasy style pages, art journaling, zetti and realistic-looking pages. This does not mean one cannot use Deviant kits for traditional or minimalist pages...its just that they don't lend themselves as easily to those styles.

So whats my style?  All of the above. I am as equally drawn to fantasy pages as I am to minimalist and traditional pages. And, I am an art journal-er! Digital style of course...lol.
Daydreamer

To create the page above I blended three kits to get the look I wanted and I am very happy with the results! Apparently others are too as I made the Gallery Standouts Blog with this one.

My page is a dedication to a new found love of fashion photography. My work is titled FASHIONISTA. But it could have the name "i am no fashionista" as I am not.

Nope, I am a Kohls shopper. And although their clothes follow the latest trends, I in particular do not (although I am coming around the artistry of dressing). I do, however, love fashion photography. This love began by accidentally stumbling upon the work of Mert and Marcus who are often featured in Vogue. I adore their work so much I now subscribe to Vogue...digital edition of course...lol.  Oh, you should see Vogue on the new iPad. The colors. The crisp, sharp images.
*drool*

I am also a fan of takinyerphoto which I discovered through the app Flipboard. Takinyerphoto combines fashion with street photography and the images captured are absolutely beautiful! Makes me want to whip out the iPhone and get busy taking street shots.

And last, but not least, check out the blog What I Wore by Jessica Quirk. Again, its not the fashion that draws me to the blog, its the fun quirky photos of Jessica I adore (although her outfits are cute too!).

My love of photography has led me into the world of fashion. It will be interesting to see how this new interest impacts my style. Or lack thereof.

Stylish Attitudes...

is available
@

The designer, Ms. Eve, was inspired by Julie Nutting's "Collage Couture" available at Amazon.  I've "eye-balled" this book but have yet to purchase it.  I am a big fan of the Somerset Magazines...Somerset Digital, Art Journaling, Somerset Studio, Memories, you  name it, I love 'em all! And I have seen Nutting's works gracing articles and covers of various Somerset mags.  Not only am I inspired by Nutting's works, I admire this type of art period.  I LOVE paper dresses, dolls and artists who make such beautiful creations. Examples include Vanessa Valencia (view her work and blog), Becky Shander (blog), and Mary Flower (blog). This list could go on an on...

I admire this kind of art so much I even bought a Cricut cartridge (or two) to cut out little dresses. But like so many other art hoarders, I purchase art supplies simply for them to sit on my shelves. Oodles and oodles of potential gathering dust.  *Sigh*  One thing that does NOT gather dust in my home is Photoshop :) So here is what I created with FineCrafted's Stylish Attitudes:

I also used a few brushes from Obsidian Dawn

I almost forgot...

how much I enjoy "hunting" flowers.

But I must confess.  Mother Nature got the best of me
this evening...ants bit me and weeds poked me.

Oh-well.

Thats the price of the hunt.

I love a kit...

suitable for multiple styles.

When I unzipped Holliewood Studio's digital scrapbooking kit Photog, my first thought was "toy camera."  The elements and paper in this kit are wonderful for creating Hipstamatic inspired creations:

But make no mistake, this diverse kit is great for photomontage and scrapbook pages with traditional flair too!

This LO was created by Holly! Come check out her gallery.

Project Life

I discovered Becky Higgings Project Life (PL) late last year and decided to give it a try for 2012. Because of my busy and erratic schedule, I am not able to treat PL as a 52 week project which it is designed to be. But that is okay, I am happy to complete pages when I have the time. PL has taken off in the traditional scrapbooking and digital arenas.  There are a wealth of blogs dedicated to the subject.  Here are some of my go-to sites for PL inspiration:

I also have inspirational pages uploaded to my Pinterest.

What I love most about PL is the 4x6" and 3x4" pockets.  It is a blast making "mini" layouts (LOs) and designing cohesive pages whether they be all traditional style, digital or hybrid.  And here lately I've been using magazine and catalog pages in my LOs.

Thus far my favorite pages are hybrid, combining digital photography and digital kits with traditional scrapbook card stock and elements.

Here is a list of my go-to stores for PL sized digital elements:

Whether you are a traditional or digital scrapbooker, PL is a great way to capture and display your everyday moments and inspiration.  The pocket pages will challenge you to think outside the 8x8", 12x12", or 8.5x11" page.  Make sure you stop by the PL Creative Team pages for more information and inspiration.
